Happy Black History Month!
The CCAWR, its sponsors and partners, greeted Black History Month 2021 Waterloo Region with a virtual Launch event on January 30th and 31st. The theme of the event was “Celebrate. Educate. Advocate.” Hosted by Ayo Owodunni and Colleen Sargeant James, with Keynote addresses by Dr. Laura Mae Lindo, diverse performers and presenters rang in BHM2021WR with speeches, songs, spoken words and dances. The federal government’s BHM2021 poster was released today. The theme for this year’s celebrations is “The Future is Now”- a chance to celebrate and acknowledge the transformative work that Black Canadians and their communities are doing now.
