Black History Month 2022 Launch
“Black History, Black Heritage, Black Achievement.”
Join the CCAWR, our partners and sponsors, as we kick off Black History Month 2022 with a 3-day online celebration of Black culture. Featuring local artistes and speakers, we will Celebrate, Educate and Advocate in Waterloo Region!
We will be hosting a one-day radio event on Friday, February 4th from 7pm to 9pm with DJ Cool of 102.7FM, then a two-day virtual launch event on Saturday, February 5th and Sunday, February 6th from 1pm to 5pm. Our theme for this auspicious event is “Black History, Black Heritage, Black Achievement.”
Our past informs our present. Our present enables our future. By remembering our history, celebrating our heritage, and looking to the future with expectation and courage, we will stay grounded, even as we soar to new heights.
Throughout this launch event, we will be showcasing individuals, groups, and resources that can benefit the African, Black and Caribbean communities within Waterloo Region. Some of the topics to be discussed include: mental and physical health, entrepreneurship, beauty, education, political and social activism. Over the two days, there will be interviews, lectures, speeches, and performances. All are welcome!
COVID-19 has forced us all to reimagine new ways to do things. We are taking all precautions to follow Health Canada guidelines and adhere to provincial recommendations.
